Negombo is the heart of Sri Lanka's fishing Industry. The sea and catamarans is the backdrop of the Negombo scenery. You can visit the Negombo lagoon, fish auction, Dutch Fort and Catholic Church.
Day 2
NEGOMBO/ANURADHAPURA

Overnight in Anuradapura
Anuradhapura- was the first capital and undoubtedly the grandest city of ancient Sri Lanka. It is the home of two world heritage sites. Many places of historical and archaeological interest could be visited.“Sri Maha Bodhi” (Sacred Bo-Tree) was brought as a sapling of the tree under which Prince Siddhartha attained to enlightenment and is over 2,200 years old and is the oldest historically documented tree in the world. At “Brazen Palace”(2nd Century B.C), the 1600 stone columns you see are all that is left of a magnificent multi-storied residence for monks.“Ruwanweliseya” (2nd century B.C) is the most famous of all “Dagobas”. It originally depicted the perfect “bubble Shape”that modern restoration has not been able to accurately reproduce.“Samadhi Buddha statue” (4th century AD) is one of the most famous statues, depicting the Buddha in a state of “Samadhi” or deep meditation.

ANURADAPURA/TRINCOMALEE

Trincomalee.. is a port city in Eastern Province Sri Lanka and lies on the east coast of the island, about 113 miles south of Jaffna. It has a population of approximately 100,000 (2007).The city is built on a peninsula, which divides the inner and outer harbors.
It rains in Trincomalee area during the period end October to early January due to the North East monsoon period .

Minneriya National Park....this area covers the former Minneriya – Giritale sanctuary about 200 Wild Elephants, Wild Buffaloes, Wild Boars, Spotted Deer, Sambhur, Crocodiles, Jackals & 160 species of Birds, are recorded from the Minneriya National sanctuary.
Day 6
HABARANA/SIGIRIYA/HABARANA

Evening climb the Sigiriya rock fortress
Thereafter return to the hotel.
Overnight in Habarana
Sigiriya-The 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress, is a World Heritage Site built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The “Lion Rock” is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 meters from the scrub Jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 Hectare fortified town. A moat, rampart and extensive Gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the “Heavenly Maidens” of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock. These Frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster.

HABARANA/POLONNARUWA/PASSIKUDA

Polonnaruwa-was the 2nd capital of Sri Lanka; another World Heritage Site built from11th to 13th Centuries, contains some splendid and spectacular ancient monuments.
'Lankathilake, 'Tivanka' and Thuparama” are the most beautiful and largest image Houses.
“Tivanka” has the best examples of frescoes of the Polonnaruwa period.
'Rankoth Vehera” and “Kiri Vehera” are well preserved large stupas. “Gal Vihare” a
rock shrine, has four Buddha statues, two seated, one standing and one reclining and
Parakrama Bahu statue are examples of Sinhalese stone carvings. The “Vata-da-ge” is a
unique creation of the Sri Lankan artists. The medieval capital, Polonnaruwa was fortified
with inner & outer moats and walls. The “Parakrama Samudra” lake built by
King Parakramabahu the great is on the western side of the city. The “Royal Palace”,
Audience hall and other buildings in the inner city were enclosed by another tall wall.
Pasikudah..Pasikudah is a bay protected from the ocean. The significance of Passikudah is that its bed is flat and sandy and has a pleasant effect on the feet. This can be experienced up to nearly 150 to 200 meters from the shore. Pasikudah is an ideal location for those who wish to learn swimming. It is in perfect harmony with its stunning natural setting on the island's eastern tip with its atmosphere of rarefied tranquility, it is a place for relaxation and renewal.
